A Taste of Christmas!

Some families have their own unique way of celebrating those special moments with the ones they love. My most cherished memory as a child was Christmas day with my own family. I couldn't wait for my favorite holiday to arrive when we would gather around the Christmas tree and enjoy each other's company. Christmas time is the time for giving and sharing but for me its all about fun. I have so much fun during this time of the year. I like to stay with my family as much as I can because family comes first. For my friends as well, we try to stay with our family as much as we can until we can't take it anymore. During the season of the Holidays, its all about the food like the: candy, tamales, doughnuts, cookies, cake, rice, beans and gifts that we all receive. For I its all about family my great friends and the Christmas parties.

Christmas always comes as a very special time for our family. We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ three times; once with each set of grandparents and once with just our family. Tradition plays a huge role in the way we celebrate each year. Never changing a thing Christmas comes and goes the same way every year. Christmas is a time when we are surrounded by plenty of reminders. The lights on the houses, the big red bows in department store windows, and the bright reds and greens all over the restaurants make it very difficult to forget that it is the holiday season. This year, however, the reminders that I see are not just telling me that it is Christmas; they are telling me that I am home.

Nothing could stop Christmas from coming. Not even a pandemic. But many of our holiday traditions do look a bit different. Christmas is round the corner. And that’s reason enough to be excited about despite the pandemic. As soon as the pandemic hit, it changed the definition of ‘normal’ for everyone. In the new normal world, be it any festival, or family get-to-together or anything to do with socializing, safety and precautions have become the first and foremost priority. Christmas has always been a time of cheer and merriment. Do not not dampen our festive spirit thinking about the covid-19, and instead prepare to welcome the season of joy, cheerfully. Our celebration of Christmas should not be dampened by Covid! Let us spread more hope, peace, joy and love this Season!

It is the season that brings out the best in everyone. It is more than just a celebration because it is a blissful way of welcoming the coming of our savior Jesus Christ. As one united nation bonded with faith in God and love for family, this season signifies a very special occasion as it is the time when we share precious moments together with our loved ones. Filipinos love Christmas but it does not mean that we should only get excited and prepare for the activities on the month of December, it means that we should feel the Christmas spirit all year round and do good deeds each day of our lives. Celebrating Christmas in the Philippines is the best time to bask in the glow of the Filipinos’ merry spirit and experience the famous brand of hospitality. As Filipinos would greet anyone on the street, a “Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon!” (Merry Christmas and Happy New)
