Independence of the Philippines

Image
Since the middle of the sixteenth century, the Philippines had been part of the Spanish Empire. A secret group called ''Katipunan' consisting Philippine activists who wanted independence had been uncovered in 1896. This led to the beginning of the struggle for independence. During Independence Day, they remember the amazing heroes who fought for independence against Spain. They fought for freedom against Spanish rule right at the end of the 19th century.  The two most famous heroes of this time were Andres Bonifacio and José Rizal. Both are considered national heroes by different groups.  José Rizal was a medical student and writer who spoke over 20 languages. His writings and books inspired Filipino   nationalism (support for your nation).  Andres Bonifacio was the “Father of the Philippine Revolution.” He led a lot of successful campaigns against Spain to gain independence for the Philippines. Spain had   colonized   (settled in and took control of) the P...

Mum’s The Word

“Mothers hold their child’s hand for a moment and their hearts for a  lifetime .”  The 12th of May is the day we celebrate the women who raised us. They dedicate their lives to us, they’re selfless yet strong, they’re affectionate and protective. It goes without saying that being a mother is one of the toughest, most rewarding jobs out there. But one day isn’t enough to show our gratitude for all their hard work and sacrifices to make us happy, safe, and well. They do so much for us, and sometimes, we don’t even realise that. So the least we can do is honor them whenever we get the chance. Mother is always the special and most important person in every kid’s life. She carries for nine months and creates a strong bonding with children till her last breath. Moms also sacrifice their dreams to give the best in everything for their little ones. The love of a mother is pure and unadulterated. She does not have any selfish motives and offers the most unconditional love on earth. All...

Festivals are meant to be a special coming together of people, an enchanting celebration of what it means to be human, a concentrated succession of extraordinary in-person events.  The  pandemic has undoubtedly thrown a wrench in the celebration of festivities. However, this does not mean we must stop celebrating.  Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts is celebrated yearly from the last week of April to the first week of May.  Binatbatan was introduced in 2002 to be part of the festival to commemorate the Abel Iloco hand-loom weaving industry.  This quality, however, is heightened every first week of May during the Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts, established in 1993 by the Save Vigan Ancestral Homes Association, Inc. The Future is Feminist

Image
Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.  The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic could reverse the limited progress that has been made on gender equality and women’s rights.  The coronavirus outbreak exacerbates existing inequalities for women and girls across every sphere – from health and the economy, to security and social protection.      The empowerment and autonomy of  women and the improvement of their political,  social, economic and health status is a highly  important end in itself. In addition, it is essential  for the achievement of sustainable  development. The full participation and  partnership of both women and men is required  in productive and reproductive life, including  shared responsibilities for the care and nurturing  of children and maintenance of the household.  In all parts of th...

Place Before the Last Destination

With the new normal, I encountered so much difficulties in dealing with the new normal in learning. Under the pressure of Covid-19, it's not easy to make self-learning. As the days passed, the lesson or topic become harder. In spite of that, I spot this lesson in third grading so interesting to work on.      There are so many knowledge I gained about Community-Based Project and HTML throughout this third grading. At first, I thought this would be hard since i'm not familiar with the lesson, but sooner after working into it, I find it attractive and interesting. All in all, I struggled so many problems by dealing with this topic but at the same time I'm enjoying it. Third Quarter was one of the hardest part throughout this journey, but to think that this is already close to the final one, it gives me relief. I've learned a lot of lessons and I promised I will treasure those knowledge I have gained.       One last step ...

Vaccine Development Against COVID-19

Image
The pandemic has been one of the greatest health crises in recorded history.  Vaccines are the most effective way to prevent infectious diseases. Vaccination protects the vaccinated persons and those around them who are vulnerable to the diseases,  reducing the risk of diseases spreading  among family members, school mates or colleagues, friends, neighbours and other people in the community.      There are many theories surrounding Covid-19 vaccination. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) and expert health authorities around the world are urging people to get vaccinated as the best solution to end the pandemic. The sooner people are immunized, the faster it will be possible not only to slow the spread of the disease, but also to limit its impact on the economy.      According to the WHO, vaccination is a simple, safe and effective way to protect against harmful diseases before coming into contact with them...

Araw ng Kagitingan: Remembering the brave in the Fall of Bataan

Image
It is not a celebration to commemorate Araw ng Kagitingan if not to remember the courage of the Filipinos who fought and gave their lives for the people even though the country's defense at the Corregidor in Bataan "collapsed" on April 9, 1942.  This happened during the second world war and Japan wanted to occupy America's allies, including the Philippines.  To prevent Japanese soldiers from entering Manila immediately, the country set up a strong defense in Corregidor, accompanied by Filipino and American soldiers. This historic day marks the greatness of Filipino veterans and American allies who fought against the Japanese invasion in World War II. Thousands of lives were lost during this dark chapter in our history in defending the country’s freedom and sovereignty.  The “Fall of Bataan” serves as a constant symbol of the Filipinos’ bravery and patriotism. As we face a global health crisis, we are reminded to remain cooperative, brave, and resilient as we, together...
